Owned by the Scannell family for generations, the present owners Shane Lowney and Kevin O’Donovan maintain the strong tradition and high standards of hospitality set by the Scannell family in the past.

Inside, the bar has a modern feel to it as well as being surrounded by traditional features like the stone walls, old stove fire, various bric a brac including an old bicycle and also the pictures and photographs documenting the extensive local history that surrounds the area. A big feature of this bar is the large impressive beer garden.A large sail acts as a cover from the rain and continues the nautical theme that is found inside. There is plenty of seating for everyone to chill out and relax. Check out the beer garden on Sunday evenings with some live bands showcasing the best of the jazz and blues music in the area.
Scannell’s have their own philosophy when it comes to socialising. They believe pubs are for conversing, meeting people and sharing stories. They only use their TV for special occasions but prefer to preserve the traditional role that a pub played. Coming from the Cork direction follow the by pass of the town, take a right at the wheel pump before the medical centre and Scannell’s is on the right hand side of the street.
